PALEMBANG, Sumatra, Indonesia - At least seven people died after drinking contaminated alcohol in an Indonesian Sumatran town, reports said.
The victims fell ill last week after drinking liquor
allegedly mixed with energy drinks and mosquito repellent in Kota Prabumulih on
Sumatra island, the Kompas daily cited local police as saying.
Dozens of Indonesians die every year after consuming home-brewed
drinks, often adulterated with a variety of toxic substances to increase their
potency.
