KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 (Bernama) - Residents of Bukit Antarabangsa unanimously supported a statement made by Works Minister Datuk Ir Mohd Zin Mohamed that human factor probably caused the landslide on Dec 6.
Bukit Antarabangsa Action Committee chairman Datuk N. Muneandy said residents thanked Mohd Zin for issuing a rationale statement instead of just blaming mother nature,
"We also want to thank him for his initiative to come and see the mishap site," said Muneandy after a meeting with the residents here today.
In today's New Sunday Times, a local English daily, had reported that Mohd Zin believed human factor probably caused the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide that claimed four lives and destroyed 14 bungalows in Taman Bukit Mewah, Bukit Antarabangsa. The statement expressed by the Works Minister was in stark contrast to that issued by Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan who discarded human factor for the mishap.
Last Wednesday, Ong in a statement had cited mother nature and continuous rain as likely reasons for the landslide.
Muneandy also said that all reports and complaints from residents would be compiled and submitted to deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator T. Murugiah tomorrow.
