MINUTE OF SILENCE AT ALL SEA GAMES COMPETATION IN SINGAPORE ON MONDAY


SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong(photo) expressed his condolences and extended his sympathies to the families who lost loved ones in the earthquake that struck Sabah on Friday.
Mr Lee has also declared Monday, Jun 8, will be a Day of National Remembrance. State flags on all government buildings will be flown at half-mast.
The South East Asian Games Federation and the Singapore Southeast Asian Games Organising Committee said. A minute of silence at all the SEA Games competition events on Monday. It added that they are deeply saddened by the tragedy of the earthquake at Mount Kinabalu.
Six Singapore primary school students and one teacher were among the 16 people so far confirmed killed, government authorities said. 
The bodies of the five students and one teacher from Tanjong Katong Primary School, as well as the Singaporean adventure guide, return to Singapore on Sunday night.
Malaysian police say the dead or missing also include several Malaysians, and one each believed to be from China, Japan and the Philippines.
