MALAYSIAN OIL TANKER MISSING AT SEA

JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia - A Malaysian oil tanker carrying 6,000 tonnes of RON95 petrol has gone missing while sailing from Melaka to Kuantan port.
The coastguard, Maritime Enforcement, has a helicopter, three ships and a boat in the search, which includes the waters off Sabah and Sarawak. Three Navy patrol boats KD Terengganu, KD Pendekar and KD Ganyang were also involved.
The Malaysian-registered tanker MT Orkim Harmony had 16 Malaysians, five Indonesians and a Myanmar in its crew, aged between 20 and 64.

  • MMEA First Admiral Ibrahim Mohamed said the tanker’s owner, Orkim Ship Management Sdn Bhd, made a report about its disappearance at 6.30am on Friday about 30 nautical miles east of Tanjung Sedili, Kota Tinggi.
 
Singapore Police, Coast Guard and the authorities in Indonesia, have been alerted and information on the missing vessel disseminated to other ships.
Meanwhile,  Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today expressed his concern over the fate of MT Orkim Harmony, te missing oil tanker.
