The Registrar of Societies had approved the Malaysian Makkal Sakthi Party (MMSP) last week, the party comprises a breakaway group from Hindraf now outlawed movement.
Former Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) national coordinator R.S. Thanenthiran has formed the Malaysian Makkal Sakthi Party (MMSP), Tamil newspaper Malaysia Nanban reported on Monday.
Malaysia Nanban said the new party would not immediately align itself to either the Barisan Nasional ruling coalition or the Pakatan Rakyat opposition alliance.
However, it quoted sources who said the party could join either coalition depending on which one could fulfil its “wishes and demands.”
The daily also said that MMSP’s main grouse was that the Pakatan-controlled states of Penang, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan have “let down the Indian community” and had failed to implement any comprehensive policy to upgrade the standard of living of the Malaysian Indian community.
