QUEBEC, Canada - A member of Quebec's provincial legislature Amir Khadir, the leader of a small, left-wing party, said Tuesday that taxpayers shouldn't be picking up the tab when Prince William and Kate come to Canada on a multi-city tour this summer.he compared the Royal Family to circus performers and parasites, despite demands for an apology.
In the newspaper interview, he compared the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to "parasites," and said that the Royals are like circus freaks because people come to gawk at them.

- But according to Quebec's deputy premier, Khadir showed a "lack of class" by making such a comparison.
- "There are a large number of Quebecers who have a lot of respect for the royal family," said the Liberal's Nathalie Normandeau.
- "(Khadir) should set an example. Going after that young couple the way he has, in such a coarse way, demonstrates a lack of class and a lack of respect towards Quebec citizens."
