AFTER FIRE ,THE DEADLY FLOODS IN E. AUSTRALIA

Cattle swim through floodwaters
While the south of the country is still battling wildfires, Australians on the east coast are being evacuated from their homes today because of floods caused by torrential downpours.
Residents north of Sydney in New South Wales were leaving their homes after being inundated by floodwaters.
Helicopters are currently on standby after the Bourke region in the state's northwest was declared a natural disaster area today after 20 homes and several government buildings were flooded.
High water also isolated about 5,000 people in towns, villages and farms across the state's north.
The Bellinger River burst its banks today, prompting the evacuation of homes and businesses in the town of Bellingen and communities downstream.
With more rain forecast tomorrow, the flood risk has not passed.
To the north, most of Queensland state has been submerged for weeks by the worst flooding in three decades, with more rain expected during the tropical monsoonal season.
Seven people have died, hundreds are homeless and tens of thousands of livestock are starving as vast areas of the state resemble an inland sea.
