MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that the whole country experience heavy rains Tuesday due to a low pressure area (LPA).The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, the provinces of Quezon, Rizal, Cavite and Laguna are experiencing heavier rains.
Disaster response teams in Calabarzon and Bicol were put on alert Tuesday as heavy rains hit the regions due to a low (LPA) near Surigao City. - The NDRRMC reported that the strongest volume of rainfall has been recorded in Tayabas town in Quezon province with 103.0 millimeter per hour.
- It said rivers, streams and its tributaries in the four provinces may be affected by the strong rains, which may cause flashfloods.
- Nine provinces in Bicol are also affected by heavy rains. These provinces include Legaspi, Daet, Virac, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate.
"People living near the mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the above-mentioned River Systems and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs) concerned are still advised to take precautionary measures," the NDRRMC said.The NDRRMC also advised all provincial units to be on alert. As of 2 a.m. Tuesday, the LPA was estimated at 95 kilometers north northeast of Surigao City.
