Police in Malaysia have questioned the estranged Manohara's husband and 10 others, including bodyguards, in connection with the shooting of a palace guard from Kelantan state.
- State-owned news agency Bernama reported a police spokesman as saying that they had also seized firearms belonging to Prince Tengku Muhammad Fakhry’s bodygaurds as part of their investigation into the shooting, which left the official badly injured.
- The Malay Mail described the shooting as the “attempted murder of Ramli Mohamed, a Kelantan palace guard.”
- The Malay Mail also reported that the police believe the attack on Ramli was part of a conspiracy to assassinate Kelantan Regent Tengku Muhammad Faris Ismail Petra, the crown prince.
- The same newspaper reported that “police believe that the 50-year-old palace guard was shot as he knew of the alleged assassination plot.”
- The Kelantan royal family have become embroiled in a crisis after Sultan Tuanku Ismail Petra fell ill with heart troubles last year.
- It is also understood that the sultan was admitted to a Malaysian hospital on Wednesday night on the advice of the acting Sultan, Faris Petra, who is Fakhry’s brother.
- Fakhry held a news conference to say that he planned to fly his ailing father to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore but the plane he had chartered was refused permission to land at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Kelantan on Wednesday.
- The Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation refused to comment on why the private jet was not allowed to land.
- It is understood another attempt was made later in the day but the sultan, the queen and Tengku were intercepted by security forces on their way to the airport.
