MALAYSIAN MINISTER SAYS CRITICS AT IACC WERE POSSESSED?

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor(photo) described Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's critics at the recent International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) as being "possessed".
A slew of anti-graft top officials, who convened in Putrajaya for the three-day conference, had demanded that Najib explain the RM2.6 billion in "donations" that ended up in his personal accounts. Some also had asked for his resignation.
But Tengku Adnan, popularly known as Ku Nan, said they were possessed to spread anti-government propaganda.
"They were probably possessed by third parties who want to spread anti-government propaganda, this appears to be the time for slander."
Transparency International president Jose Ugaz had set the tone during the opening day of the conference as he described Malaysia as having a "corruption crisis" following the allegations against Najib.
  • IACC council member Michael Hershman also demanded for answers from Najib regarding the matter.
  • The UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) chairman Manzoor Hasan went one step further and asked Najib to resign as prime minister to allow an investigation into the matter.
Najib was scheduled to deliver a keynote address during the conference, but backed out, with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Paul Low(photo) replacing him.
Low went on to say that Najib did not attend the conference due to possible "hostile" reception.
