MT. KINABALU NUDISTS BARRED FROM LEAVING MALAYSIA’S SABAH

KOTA KINABALU, Sabah, Malaysia -  Five foreign tourists who stripped naked at the peak of Mount Kinabalu last month will not be allowed to leave Sabah.
Police commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the move was to facilitate police investigations into the incident.
  • "A police report has been lodged and we believe the five are still in Sabah and maybe trying to leave the state.
  • "We have sought the assistance of the immigration department to prevent them from leaving," he told a press conference here.
  • The five tourists from a western country took off their clothes when they reached the peak of Mount Kinabalu on the morning of May 30.
The incident incurred the wrath of members of Sabahans, especially local residents in Kundasang as the behaviour of the visitors was not respectful of local traditions.
Many had made various speculations, linking the incident to the earthquake in Ranau, about 108km from here this morning.
The earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred at 7.17am in Ranau and tremors could be felt at most places on the west coast of Sabah.
Those  include Tambunan, Tuaran, Pedalaman, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud as highlighted earlier in this blog.
