PETALING JAYA, Malaysia -  Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar (pic) has been arrested under the Sedition Act for allegedly making a seditious remark in a speech in Parliament last Tuesday.
The PKR vice-president was detained at the Dang Wangi police station on Monday at 3.30pm, soon after appearing at the station to give her statement on the "Kita Lawan" rally on Mar 7.
"ASP Muniandy informed me that I have been detained on orders from the D5 deputy director general in Bukit Aman," she tweeted at 3.25pm.
"The police haven't told us yet which parts of the speech are seditious or whether the entire speech is seditious," PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said when contacted.
Nurul Izzah detained under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act.
Last Tuesday, Izzah read out Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's speech in Parliament, where she spoke out against her father's imprisonment for sodomy and allegedly attacked the judiciary.
