NUMBER OF NEW REAL ESTATE SALESPERSONS DROP 27% IN SINGAPORE

SINGAPORE – While London and New York, which have between them roughly 50% of the world's 20,000+ sqft floor plate space, remain unchallenged in terms of real estate capacity, it is said Singapore alone amongst the Asian hubs has the faculty to develop its CBD in the future.
However, it is reported number of new real estate salesperson drop by 27 this year. According to report, a total of 3,336 new real estate salespersons have been registered by the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) this year, down from 4,567 the previous year.
In total, CEA licensed 1,425 estate agents and registered 31,783 salespersons at January 1 this year.
Last year, licences were issued to 1,492 estate agents and registered 31,040 salespersons. However, 88 (5.9 per cent) estate agents and 3,382 (10.9 per cent) salespersons indicated that they did not want to continue with their estate agency work in 2014.
The number of registered salespersons has remained fairly consistent for the last 3 years, at around 31,000 after each renewal exercise, CEA said.
