SAME-SEX MARRIAGE GROUP ATTACKS MISS CALIFORNIA

Miss California, Carrie Prejean, waves as she comes on stage at the Rock Church during service in San Diego
LOS ANGELES, U.S.A: Miss California, Carrie Prejean, 21, got involved in a politically charged issue when she was asked last month by celebrity judge Perez Hilton at the Miss USA contest about Vermont becoming the fourth state in the country to legalize same-sex marriage.
She replied that it was great to live in a country where people can choose same-sex marriage, but she believed a marriage should be between a man and a woman. "That's how I was raise
d," she said.
Her answer got her into deep trouble. Supporters of same-sex marriage attacked her for her position. Her partially n
ude photos suddenly appeared on the Internet and spread fast.
Some angry Americans demanded her Miss California crown be removed.
Prejean argued that the photos were taken several years ago by a photographer without her knowing it and were released without her permission, and she was being victimized for her opposition to gay marriage.
She said there had been "hateful attacks, despicable rumors and false allegations" ever since she responded to Hilton's question at the beauty contest. "I am not an activist or anything. Nor do I have a personal agenda. I was thrown into this firestorm from the time I was asked this question on stage," she said. She also claimed that she had been unfairly criticized for speaking from her heart and using her constitutional right to free speech.
