PETALING JAYA - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the opposition signed a declaration
seeking the removal of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as Prime Minister.
"These people have shown commitment. And this is in the form of a declaration
seeking the removal of Najib and the necessity to implement reforms once he's
no longer prime minister,"
Dr Mahathir told a press conference which was attended
by suspended Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Selangor mentri
besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
Also present were former Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, Amanah president Mohamad
Sabu and former Kita president Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
"We are all citizens of Malaysia expressing our views and inviting all Malaysians to
show their support to this movement," said Dr Mahathir.
- "And then, we can have an idea as to the people's wishes. We hope following this press conference, we can get more people to sign the declaration," he said.
- After reading the 37-point declaration, Dr Mahathir signed the document followed by his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and then the others. They were among the first 50 people who formed the core group who signed the declaration.
