The ringgit is undervalued, says Maybank Group president and chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Farid Alias. “It keeps changing over time depending on expectations, but clearly it is undervalued,” he said in an interview with the New Straits Times Press group.
Farid said Clearly expectations have changed. At one time he had commented that the ringgit
should be at RM3.30 to the US dollar.
“We know that fundamentally we are undervalued and based on interest rates parity we should be at 3.3. When we say it, we hope people will pick up on it, but it hasn’t
happened”, he said.
