KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - A man and his wife, who had both
found new lovers, dumped their three children at a welfare home in Kuala Lumpur
so they could start afresh, Harian Metro reported.
The children, aged between eight and 11, were left at a Welfare Department office as soon as their parents' divorce was finalised.
Federal Territory Welfare Department director Khatijah Abdullah said the father had gone over to their office and told them he could not take care of the children because they were "too naughty".
"The excuse showed us he was merely trying to get out of his responsibility as a parent.
"At first, custody was awarded to the mother, but she, together with her new husband, abused the children.
"Then, the father was given custody, but his new wife was not happy. She, too, started to abuse the children.
We asked the father to attend our counselling sessions but he refused to cooperate," she said.
