KARACHI, Pakistan - Gunmen on Friday killed another lawyer even while the fraternity mourned the recent killing of a colleague.
Advocate Gulam Raza Haider
was on his way home from the court when four assailants on two
motorcycles targeted his car and shot him dead near the Karachi
Metropolitan Office (KMC), police said.
The killing was the second in
two days after unknown killers gunned down advocate Waqalrul Hassan in
Gulshane Iqbal on Wednesday.
The lawyers staged a sit in on Friday and boycotted court proceedings over Hassan’s murder.
In the past 24 hours, at least nine people, including two women, were killed in different parts of the city.

- Hassan was Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer in 1999, when Sharif’s government was toppled in a bloodless coup and he was implicated in a plane hijacking case.
- The city has been experiencing a new wave of sectarian and other killings.
