MASSIVE FLOODS ACROSS THAILAND, AT LEAST 34 DEAD

The death toll caused by the massive flood in Thailand stands at 34, according to its department of disaster prevention and mitigation.

About 3.09 million victims from 932,342 families bore the brunt of the flood which battered 38 of the country's 77 provinces, damaging 504,320 hectares of cultivated agricultural fields.

• The department said 225 schools, 399 temples and 57 government offices were also affected.
•  Meanwhile, the weather appears to indicate that more areas could be flooded as the Thai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in several provinces. 
• The department has warned of the active low pressure over the upper Gulf of Thailand near Prachuap Kiri Khan.

The stronger southwest monsoon in Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will give rise to heavy downpour from October 6 to 8, affecting nine provinces of Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat (Eastern), Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan (Upper South), Chumphon, Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket (Southern).

The department has also forecast that between Oct 7 and 11, high pressure from China will cover the upper part of the country, leading to low temperature and cold weather in the morning, in areas beginning from the country's northeast region.
