BEACH CALLED 'A SEA OF RED' IN CHINA?

Tourists admire the Red Beach scenic area in Panjin, China, last week. The beach gets its color from a type of seaweed that grows green in the spring and then turns red as it matures.

One iReporter who recently traveled to the beach called it a "sea of red."

"The view was amazing," rachelgeesa said. "The contrasts between the red ground, white cranes and green ground were profound."

rachelgeesa traveled to Panjin, China, a couple weeks ago to see the Red Beach, which gets its name from local seaweed. The seaweed grows during the spring and summer and remains green, but when autumn rolls around, it turns a fiery red. 

'I was skeptical about actually seeing this 'sea of red' that I had heard of so many times. Once we finally arrived, the view was amazing! The contrasts between the red ground, white cranes, and green ground were profound!' she said.
