KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - A British lecturer was charged in the Ampang Sessions Court here on Wednesday with causing a man's death in Pandan Indah last month. Ricos Nicholas Christen,53, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him before Judge Roszianayati Ahmad.
He is alleged to have beaten Yap Chin Leong,50, to death in front of Leisure Bay Cafe and Restaurant, 78G, Jalan Pandan Indah 4/68B, Pandan Indah at 2am on May 29.
The charge under Section 304 (b) of Penal Code carries a jail sentence of up to 10 years or a fine or both, upon conviction.
The court allowed bail of RM15,000 with one surety and ordered Christen to surrender his passport and report to the nearest police station once a month. The case has been fixed for re-mention on July 6.
