MANILA , PHilippine - Surprisingly another earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.7 has slightly shaken buildings in the Philippine capital and nearby provinces. It is not expected to have caused any damage as it occurred deep under the ocean floor.
Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr, who heads the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology(PHIVOLCS), said that movement in the local Lubang fault set off the earthquake that was felt after nightfall on Monday in metropolitan Manila and the nearby provinces of Batangas and Bulacan.
The Philippines, like Japan, lies in the Pacific Ring of Fire where earthquakes are common.
