- Superintendent Rommel Miranda of the National Capital Region Police Office said they are on the lookout for a group of women, who were barely out of their teens, that a carjacking syndicate uses to "honey trap" their victims.
- "We are looking for several mestizas [women of mixed racial ancestry] who are part of a major carjacking syndicate," he said in a radio interview.
- "In some cases, the group uses its female members to befriend potential victims. They would attend bars, parties and other social gatherings," the official was quoted by reports as saying. The women ring members are tech savvy and daring.
- Authorities scored a major point in Metro Manila's war against car theft syndicates with the neutralisation of ringleader Ivan Padilla, 23, in a shootout with police in suburban Makati City.
