MIRI, Malaysia: An enraged mother slapped and punched a teacher at a school here on Friday after a heated argument about her son’s punishment which she regarded as too harsh.
The mother confronted the female teacher who had punished her 11-year-old son to 1,000 frog squats for failing to understand the word ‘Spain’.

- According to the mother in her police report, an argument erupted and she slapped the teacher twice, punched her stomach and kicked her leg.
- In her report lodged at Miri Central Police station yesterday, the mother alleged that her 11-year-old son was victimised by the teacher and she confronted her at 7.30am on Friday to seek explanation.
- She claimed that the teacher, in a rude manner, told her that it was the school’s right to punish her son and the teacher also challenged her to make a police report if she was not unsatisfied.
- After the incident, the mother went to see the school’s senior assistant principal and was told that the punishment given to her son was not wise.
- She added that the senior assistant also requested her to discuss the matter ‘nicely’ with the teacher but she was not willing to discuss it anymore and made a police report on the matter yesterday.
- The mother claimed that following the punishment, her son has been complaining of pain in his thighs and knees and was having problem sitting down.
