ISRAEL ATTACK ON IRAN WILL CHANGE THE MIDDLE EAST GEOGRAPHY?

Monday, February 06, 2012

TEHRAN, Iran - A senior Iranian lawmaker says the 33-day war with Lebanon should have taught Israel how devastating even the thought of a war with Iran could become for the entity.
Head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Sunday that a war with Iran would have consequences for Israel that are far worse than the war with Lebanon.
The Iranian lawmaker said if Israel commits the folly of waging war against Iran it could change the geography of the Middle East and would result in a serious security challenge for Israel.
  • Boroujerdi said Iran’s advancements in different fields, which are made despite international sanctions, irk Israel.
  • “The Zionist regime [of Israel] considers regional revolutions, which have Islamic tendencies and are modeled after the Islamic Revolution of Iran, a serious threat and thinks a war with Iran is the answer to all its security challenges,” he concluded.
  • Boroujerdi’s remarks come after Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Ya’alon threatened Iran with a military strike against its nuclear facilities in an attempt to force the country to abandon its peaceful nuclear energy program.
The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program.
Iran argues that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has every right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

HOLOCAUST 'PRETEX' TO FORM ISRAEL?

Saturday, September 19, 2009
TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said today the Holocaust was a “lie” and a pretext to create a Jewish state that Iranians had a religious duty to confront.
  • “The pretext (Holocaust) for the creation of the Zionist regime (Israel) is false ... It is a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim,” he told worshippers at Tehran University at the end of an annual anti-Israel “Qods (Jerusalem) Day” rally. “Confronting the Zionist regime (Israel) is a national and religious duty.”
  • Since coming to power in 2005, Ahmadinejad has provoked international condemnation for saying the Holocaust was a “myth” and calling Israel a “tumour” in the Middle East.
  • His government held a conference in 2006 questioning the fact that Nazis used gas chambers to kill 6 million Jews in World War Two.
  • Ahmadinejad’s critics say his fiery anti-Western speeches and questioning of the Holocaust have isolated Iran, which is at odds with the West over its disputed nuclear programme.
  • The hardline president, who often rails against Israel and the West, warned leaders of Western-allied Arab and Muslim countries about dealing with Israel.
  • “This regime (Israel) will not last long. Do not tie your fate to it. This regime has no future. Its life has come to an end,” he said in a speech broadcast live on state radio.
  • European countries have criticised the hardline president for his views on Israel, which Iran refuses to recognise since its 1979 Islamic revolution.
  • Israel, the United States and their European allies suspect Iran of trying to use its nuclear programme to build an atomic bomb. Tehran insists its nuclear work is aimed at generating electricity.
  • Ahmadinejad said Iran rejected any Middle East peace plan that did not guarantee the rights of the Palestinians.
  • “The Palestinians should know that they owe everything to their resistance,” he said, rejecting any solutions based on compromises.
  • The hardline leader played down the importance of any protests he may face in New York during his upcoming trip to attend the UN General Assembly.
  • “These futile actions have no political value. The Iranian nation will not blink an eye over your actions,” he said to chants of “Death to Israel”.
  • Ahmadinejad railed against the United States during his previous appearances at the General Assembly, which takes place at the UN headquarters on international territory on the east side of Manhattan.
  • All world leaders are invited to the annual gathering in September, to the discomfort of the United States which has been forced over the years to allow in foes like Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and Ahmadinejad.

ISRAEL PLANNED TO ATTACK IRAN ON APRIL 17

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Israel had planned to attack and "destroy" the bulk of the Iranian Air Force fleet during a maneuver on April 17, Israel's Debkafile claims. "Israel was planning to destroy all 140 fighter-bombers concentrated at the Mehr-Abad Air Force base for an air show over Tehran on Iran's Army Day the following day," read the Debka report.
The air maneuver was cancelled due to severe and harsh weather conditions."Due to poor visibility and the appearance of dust storms (over the city), we were forced to cancel the drill for an optimal output," said Air Force commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi.
However, Debka, which has close links to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, quoted intelligence sources as saying that the cancellation was announced after a tip-off from the Russians.
"Moscow had informed the Iranians that its spy satellites and intelligence sources had picked up preparations at Israeli Air Force bases to destroy the 140 warplanes, the bulk of the Iranian air force, on the ground the night before the display, leaving its nuclear sites without aerial defense," Debka sources insisted.
Israel, the sole possessor of a nuclear warhead in the Middle East, according to former US President Jimmy Carter, has long strived to portray Iran as a regime hell-bent on imminent nuclear war.
Under the claim and a warning that Iran could gain nuclear weapons within "months", Israel regularly threatens to wipe out Iranian nuclear infrastructure militarily.
Iran, a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), says its work is directed at the civilian applications of the technology. The country, meanwhile, continues to prep its military for deterring threats such as those originating from Israel.
