Facebook Is Changing Your News Feed In A Subtle But Important Way
Facebook is introducing a new way to track what you do on
your News Feed. The social network will now weigh two different factors when
deciding what to show you, the company announced in a blog post Monday.
“News Feed will begin to look at both the probability that
you would want to see the story at the top of your feed and the probability
that you will like, comment on, click or share a story,” Facebook engineers

claims that her life is now a living nightmare after personal details and
pictures from her Facebook account were published in pamphlets advertising sex
services.The woman, who only wished to be known as Jellyn, said the pamphlets were distributed here as well as in Penampang and surrounding areas.
"The first time I got a call asking for sex services
was in December. At first, I thought it was a joke but the calls kept coming
until I had to switch off my handphone."I only realised how serious it was when my elder daughter saw the pamphlets," said the mother of two.
The callers, said Jellyn, had also told her that the pamphlets, which contained her and her husband's phone numbers and their house address, could be found all over.
"I quit my job as a handphone SIM card vendor after
that. It is terrifying. I am afraid for my family's safety," she said,
adding that her daughters, aged five and seven, did not know about her ordeal.Jellyn said she and her husband Ong, 29, who is from Johor, lodged police reports on Dec 18 and Feb 19.
They had also lodged complaints with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission but they were advised to hire a lawyer.
"We do not know who has done this as we don't have any enemies. We hope the police can help us catch the culprit and stop this nightmare," she said.
Penampang OCPD Deputy Supt Azmir Abdul Razak said police were investigating the case.

FACEBOOK DELETING FAKE 'LIKES'
Facebook has begun deleting fake page "likes", independent data suggests. According to Pagedata, many of the site's most "liked" pages suffered large drops in numbers on Wednesday.
The move follows the social network's admission that 8.7% of
its users are not "real", many having been set up by spammers who use
them to artificially make pages appear more popular.
The issue poses a problem for Facebook as it seeks to expand its targeted advertising service.
Facebook's shares have slumped from their initial public offering of $38 (£23) in May to $20.62 on Thursday.
In a blog post written in August, Facebook said: "A 'like' that doesn't come from someone truly interested in connecting with a page benefits no-one."

citing Pagedata's statistics, noted that some of the most popular pages
on Facebook had suddenly shed significant numbers of users.
The page for Texas HoldEm Poker, one of the site's most
popular, shed 96,317 "likes" on Wednesday - compared with net gains of
about 20,000 each day for the previous month.
Other prominent pages also saw a drop in numbers, including
those of pop singers Rihanna (-28,275), Eminem (-15,420) and Lady Gaga
(-34,326).
Facebook would not confirm to the BBC that the purge was happening, but
could not provide an alternative explanation for the drop in numbers.
U.K BLAMES FACEBOOK FOR GROWING DIVORCES?
LONDON, U.K - The social networking website Facebook is being blamed for a growing number of divorces in Britain as married partners are caught cheating online. A lawyer said how every divorce she had dealt with in the past nine months had involved the social networking website, according to The Sun.- Nowadays, even flirty messages and photos of new lovers after a split are being used by former spouses as "ammunition" in divorce proceedings.
- Lawyers are advising couples to stop using Facebook and sites such as Second Life, Illicit Encounters and Friends Reunited until legal proceedings are finalised.
- Emma Patel, of Hart Scales and Hodges Solicitors, in Surrey, has dealt with 30 divorces since May, and all involved Facebook.
She said: "Suspicious spouses have used it to spy and find evidence of flirting and even affairs, which have then led to break-ups.We advise feuding couples to avoid these sites until their divorces are settled."- And she warned against "public slagging matches" on the site.

- A "Change Facebook Back to Normal" group at the website claimed slightly more than a million members as once again, Facebook's penchant for change triggered ire among users that prefer things remain the same.
- "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," a Facebook user with the screen name Carlos Deleon wrote on a protest group chat page.
- On Friday, Facebook modified its news feed feature to let members of the world's leading social-networking service catch up on tidbits they may have missed while away from the website.
- Facebook now lets members switch between getting real time streams of news or activities taking place, and highlights of what friends have shared online in the preceding 24 hours.
- News Feed picks re-cap stories based on factors including how many friends have liked and commented on them.
- The Live Feed option funnels updates and news about online friends' activities to Facebook home pages as the information surfaces.
- "When we redesigned the Facebook home page last March, we heard from millions of users whose feedback was gathered and considered in developing News Feed and Live Feed," Facebook said in an email response to an AFP inquiry.
- "Whenever we launch new products, we listen carefully to our users about what specific changes we can make to improve their experiences on the site."
- Some Facebook users on Monday posted instructions describing a way to reset the former news feed mode to home pages by making "status updates" a default option.
- "We encourage people to continue to send us constructive, detailed feedback and are committed to using it to inform how we build and improve the site for everyone," Facebook said.
