Malaysian PM Ready To Face Critics
KUCHING,Sarawak, Malaysia - Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak wants critics to know that he is "fighting fit" and ready to take them on.
Opening the Gathering of Rising Entrepreneurs Act Together (GREAT) 2016 here Sunday, the Prime Minister said he had a selection of two T-shirt sizes for the event - XL and XXL. - "I'm proud to say that I chose XL and I can wear it. "The message is clear: I'm fighting fit and I will take on anyone," he said.
The Prime Minister did not elaborate.
Najib has been facing attacks over 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), criticisms from former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, rising prices and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
On the cost of living, Najib said alleviating higher prices was only one aspect of the matter.
"Another aspect is how to increase the income of the people. We need to do this at the same time as taking steps to reduce prices," he said. Najib also announced the setting up of Borneo 744 at Bintawa in Sarawak as a hub of creativity and innovation for young entrepreneurs.
"This will be a Blue Ocean Entrepreneurs' Town to encourage collaboration and networking among entrepreneurs. "We want to make this a model of creative entrepreneurship," he added.

Ministry Disputes Claim That Najib ‘Asia’s Worst Finance Minister 2016’
The Ministry of Finance (MoF), in a statement today, took FinanceAsia e-magazine
to task for its article titled “Najib Razak: Asia’s Worst Finance Minister 2016”. 
The MoF said it was unethical for the e-magazine to make a judgment based on
developments within 12 months.
It said on the contrary, Malaysia was expected to register a growth of between
4.5% and 5.5% in 2015, while its unemployment rate declined from 4.5% to 3% with
1.8 million new jobs created.
The per capita income increased from RM24,541 to RM33,572, while the fiscal deficit dropped from 6.7% to 3.2%.“Despite uncertainty in the global economy, Malaysia is optimistic of attaining its GDP target of 4.5% this year.“If Malaysia could register a 4.5% growth amid the economic slowdown, it would infer that Malaysia’s economy is still strong compared with other Asian countries. ”Questioning FinanceAsia’s motive in posting article which suggested that Malaysia was in the doldrums, the MoF said the report was callously released to improve its rating.
This is because in last year’s issue, the e-magazine ranked Najib in eighth spot among
finance ministers of the Asia-Pacific region’s 12 largest economies, the MoF added.

MACC QUESTIONS MALAYSIAN PM ON RM2.6B FOUND IN HIS ACCOUNT
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - Prime Minister has been dogged by controversy
ever since reports emerged in July of investigations into RM2.6b funds believed
to have been transferred into Mr Najib's accounts before the 2013 general
elections.
The Wall Street Journal said investigators had allegedly
identified five separate deposits into his bank accounts - including funds they
had reportedly traced back to SRC International - an energy company formerly
owned by the debt-ridden state investment firm advised by Mr Najib, 1Malaysia
Development Berhad (1MDB).
In August, the MACC said they had determined that the money
had no connection to 1MDB but was a "donation" from the Middle
East. However, Saturday's meeting is the
first time MACC has taken a statement directly from Mr Najib himself. This is
also the first time the MACC has questioned a 
sitting prime minister under the
MACC Act 2009.
In a statement, MACC said their meeting with Mr Najib lasted
2.5 hours and he was cooperative. No further details were provided.
Mr Najib has repeatedly denied allegations of wrongdoing,
saying he has not used any funds for personal gain.

VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE MOVE AGAINST MALAYSIAN PM?
PETALING JAYA,Malaysia - PKR’s Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian
has submitted a historical no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib
Tun Razak in the Order Paper for the Parliament meeting starting tomorrow.
The motion is listed as the 25th motion out of 28 scheduled
for debate.
The motion, which is in relation to the RM2.6bil “donation”
deposited into Najib’s personal account, however, is unlikely to be debated
because the House usually deals with government business first.
- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the Opposition had the right to table a no-confidence motion but Barisan Nasional would oppose it.
- Dr Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan’s chief whip, said the ruling coalition’s elected representatives would be ready to oppose such motion.
“It is up to the Speaker and Dewan Rakyat’s administration
to manage motions put in the docket.
“However, procedures state that priority will be given to
government matters,” he said yesterday when commenting on the no-confidence
motion tabled against Najib.
He said the Speaker also had the power to reject or approve
any motion.

MALAYSIA PM SAID THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT AFRAID FOR MAKING UNPOPULAR DECISIONS?
PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia - A government must not be afraid to make unpopular
decisions if it benefits the country in the long run, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun
Razak.The Prime Minister gave his assurance that while policies like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) may not be popular, the decision to implement the tax system will benefit Malaysia.
- “We must be confident that the policies we introduce will bear fruit. Do not be afraid to make decisions that are unpopular. It may not show its results in the short term, but it will in the long run,” Najib told staff at his department’s monthly assembly here on Monday.
- “We all know we must find ways to increase the country’s income, that’s why we introduced the GST, even though it is not popular.
- “We must improve on the implementation, take action against those who irresponsibly increase prices and also constantly give explanations.
- “To be a competitive country, we must reduce corporate and individual tax. Thailand has reduced theirs to 20%. Singapore reduced theirs to 17%. So far, we have reduced our individual tax.
- “When our income has increased, we will be able to use it to reduce the people's burdens,” he added.
- Najib also urged his staffe to work together “as a family”.
- “I assure you that when our economy improves and the market becomes more confident of us, we will move forward.
- “We will be able to achieve our aspirations, but only with the condition that we work as a family. We are all in one team,” he said.

MALAYSIAN PM IS HEALTHY?
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has quashed speculation over his health, saying he did not suffer a stroke.
"Bursa Malaysia is healthy, the (stock) market is healthy, the Sukuk market is healthy and I am also healthy.
"So don't listen to the blogs," the Prime Minister said when launching the Exchange Traded Bonds and Sukuk (ETBS) here Tuesday.
Speculation over Najib's health was rife following a recent report by an online portal that alleged he had suffered a stroke.
The prime minister's press secretary, Datuk Tengku Sharifuddin Tengku Ahmad, reportedly said yesterday that Najib was fine.

MALAYSIAN PM EXPECTED TO RESUME DUTIES SOON
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will resume normal duties soon as his ulcers have healed, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican."He is expected to chair the Cabinet meeting on Friday," he said in a statement here Wednesday.
Dr Mohd Ismail said Najib underwent an endoscopy at the Selayang Hospital near here in the morning, which showed that his ulcers had healed.
"His personal physicians said the Prime Minister is making very good progress," he added.
Najib, who had contracted chickenpox late last month, was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Thursday for superficial ulcers and mild gastritis and discharged on Sunday.
He was advised to rest at home.
